માણસનાંકૌટુંબિક દુશ્મનો!

આજે આ લેખ દ્વારા આપ સૌ વાંચકો સમક્ષ હું ઉપસ્થિત થાઉં છું. લેખનું શીર્ષક નવાઈ પમાડનાર તથા આપણા કૌટુંબિક દુશ્મનો વિષે જાણવા માટેની જિજ્ઞાસા જગાડનાર લાગશે. હું આગળ વધું તે પહેલાં, આપ સૌ વાંચકોને વિનંતિ કરીશ કે આપ સૌ હળવા મને આરામથી બેસીને આગળ વાંચવાનું શરૂ કરશો. અહીં જે દુશ્મનોની વાત કરવામાં આવનાર છે તેઓ બહારના નથી, પણ આપણાં જ સ્વજન કે જે એક જ છાપરા નીચે આપણી સાથે જ રહેતાં આપણાં જ કુટુંબીજન છે. આ શબ્દો મારા પોતાના નથી, પણ કોઈકે નોંધ્યું છે કે ” જ્યારે કોઈ પુત્ર પિતાને માન ન આપે, પુત્રી માતા સામે પોતાનું માથું ઊંચકે,  પુત્રવધુ પોતાની સાસુ સામે જીભાજોડી કરે,  ત્યારે એ બધાં આપણાં કૌટુંબિક દુશ્મનો બને છે.” અહીં હું એક વાત સ્પષ્ટ કરીશ કે માત્ર પુત્રવધૂઓ જ કૌટુંબિક અશાંતિ માટે હંમેશાં જવાબદાર નથી હોતી, સાસુ પણ તેટલી જ જવાબદાર હોય છે. સાસુ પણ વારંવાર ભૂલી જતી હોય છે કે કોઈક સમયે તે પોતે પણ કોઈકની પુત્રવધૂ હતી. એ જ પ્રમાણે પુત્રવધૂએ પણ હંમેશાં યાદ રાખવું જોઈએ કે પોતે પણ ભવિષ્યે સાસુ બનવાની છે.

માનવીય સંબંધો અને જીવનનાં મૂલ્યો બદલાતા વિશ્વ સાથે બદલાતાં રહેતાં હોય છે,  કશું જ સ્થિર રહેતું નથી હોતું. કૌટુંબિક બાબતો અંગે બધી જગ્યાએ અને બધા જ સમુદાયોમાં ‘જનરેશન ગેપ‘ અર્થાત્ ‘પેઢી અંતર‘ની સમસ્યા સર્વ સામાન્ય હોય છે. માતાપિતા એવી અપેક્ષાઓ રાખતાં હોય છે કે તેમનાં સંતાનોએ તેમના જેવાં જ થવું જોઈએ. વળી એ જ પ્રમાણે સંતાનો ઈચ્છતાં હોય છે કે તેમનાં માબાપે તેઓ જે કંઈ કરવા માગતાં હોય તેમ તેમણે કરવા દેવું જોઈએ. ખલિલ જિબ્રાન માતાપિતાને આ શબ્દોમાં શિખામણ આપે છે કે “તમે તેમના જેવાં થવાનો પ્રયત્ન કરજો, પણ તેમને તમારા જેવાં બનાવવાનું તો માંડી જ વાળજો.” તેઓ આગળ ઉમેરે છે કે “જિંદગી કદીય પીછેહઠ નથી કરી શકતી કે ગઈ કાલમાં રોકાઈ નથી રહેતી.” આ બધા મહાન પુરુષોના મહાન વિચારો છે ખરા, પણ કુટુંબોના વાતાવરણની વાસ્તવિક પરિસ્થિતિઓ તો સાવ જૂદી જ હોય છે. અહીં નીચે હું મોટાભાગનાં કુટુંબોમાં સામાન્ય રીતે સાંભળવા મળતા કેટલાક સંવાદો રજૂ કરીશ કે જેથી જાણી શકાશે કે કુટુંબના સભ્યો આપસઆપસમાં એકબીજા સાથે કેવી રીતે વર્તતા હોય છે અને કેવો વ્યવહાર કરતા હોય છે. હું માનું છું કે આ સંવાદો વાંચકો માટે રસપ્રદ થઈ પડશે.

 

A Humorous Folktale on Stupidity

Before proceeding on for my humorous post today, I’ll pass on the credit of the marvelous theme of the story to be represented below to a local weaver of my village from whom I had heard it in form of simply a joke many years ago. At this juncture, I’ll disclose one more suspense that the same folktale in different episodes was traced out by me before I started to write this post while chatting on I-net. Hans Christian Andersen of Denmark (1805-1875) who was the son of a shoemaker had written the similar story titled as ‘The Emperor’s New Robes’ in his book “Fairy Tales”.

I wonder how and through which source the narrator of this tale to me had collected it though he was illiterate. How strange we feel that no frontiers come across the way of literature to spread globally! Literature is like migrating birds that can fly East to West and North to South with no any hindrance or prohibition. The tale below is a ‘Remix’ of the two above with omissions and additions from my end. According to Lawrence Lessig, a law Professor of Stanford University, California, USA; ‘Remix is a Cultural Right’. Here, I don’t claim any right but merely say that I have enjoyed a little freedom in my humble endeavor here. Please, go on to read the tale.

 

Friends are our destiny, either ill or good!

Recently a week ago, the Friendship Day was celebrated in the most of the countries of the world. Western countries emphasize on some social days besides the religious ones. The first Sunday of August was declared as the Friendship Day by US Congress in 1935 and now many countries follow the same and celebrate it. This day is not limited to youngsters only. The people of any age and gender celebrate it with great zeal and enjoy the day valuing friendship as an indispensable part of life.

In my some earlier post, I had written that Relatives have been gifted by the God by our birth in a certain family to His wish whether they suit us or not. But, we must thank Him in case of our friends for whom we have at least a chance of choice. The friend is the new-comer in our life like the wife. Here, I would like to express my views on friendship with supporting quotes of some noble and learned people wherever certain points come to be emphasized in my Article.

‘Friends and Friendship’ is such a profound subject which cannot be discussed with proper justification in this precise Article. Its various aspects are such as ways of knowing a friend, boundaries of friendship and its continuity or termination, proper motivations of friendship and guidelines of associating with friends, rights of friends mutually agreed upon and to be observed honestly and lastly testing a friend prior to its commencement, within its continuity or before its termination. I am not going to go deep in the subject here, but discuss some points in general just to guide my valued Readers how to deal with friends and develop true friendship.
