(374) On the Eve of the 6th Anniversary of my Blog “William’s Tales”

(બ્લોગરને માફ કરીને વાંચશો, કેમ કે અહીં ગુજરાતી ભાષાના મહિમાની વાત કરવાની છે અને લખાણનો પહેલો જ ફકરો ગુ-glish માં લખવામાં આવનાર છે. આનું કારણ સ્વયંસ્પષ્ટ હોઈ હું તેનો કોઈ ખુલાસો આપતો નથી.)  

મારા બ્લોગ – “William’s Tales” ના નિયમિત વાચકો છેલ્લા કેટલાક મહિનાથી મારા Home Page ઉપરના Right Side Bar ઉપર દિવસોનું Count  down બતાવતા Milestone ના મારા Widget માં The Big Day / May 5th 2013  જોતા આવ્યા હશે. મારા મનથી મારો એ મોટો દિવસ મારી અંગત બાબતને લગતો હતો, જે જાહેર થઈ ગયો હોઈ તે વિષે તો તમે મારા આ પ્રારંભિક લખાણ પછી તરત જ વાંચી શકશો. પરંતુ અહીં હું જે દર્શાવી રહ્યો છું, તે મારી પેલી અંગત બાબત કરતાં વધારે મહત્ત્વ ધરાવે છે. આમ આજના દિવસનો મહિમા વધી જાય છે.

યુ.કે.માં વસતા આપણા ગુજરાતીજનો  ‘ગુજરાતી સાહિત્ય અકાદમી’ દ્વારા ગુજરાત રાજ્યની સ્થાપનાના દિવસ ૧લી મેને ‘આંતરરાષ્ટ્રીય ગુજરાતી દિવસ’ તરીકે ઊજવે છે. આ દિવસની ઊજવણીના ભાગ રૂપે ઓણ સાલ ૫મી મે ૨૦૧૩ના રોજ અકાદમી ગુજરાતી ડાયસ્પોરાના અમેરિકાનિવાસી બે મુલાકાતી સર્જકો : પન્નાબહેન નાયક અને નટવરભાઈ ગાંધીની વિશેષ ઉપસ્થિતિમાં અકાદમીની વેબસાઈટ www.glauk.org  નું વિધિવત્ મંગલાચરણ પણ થવાનું હતું. ગુજરાતી સાહિત્ય અકાદમી (યુ.કે.) ના પ્રમુખશ્રી વિપુલભાઈ કલ્યાણીજીએ અકાદમી વતી જાહેર નિમંત્રણ પાઠવ્યું હતું.

આમ તો હું જો કદાચ ખોટો ન હોઉં તો અહીં ભારત ખાતે ગુજરાતમાં તો  ૨૪મી ઓગસ્ટને ‘વિશ્વ ગુજરાતી ભાષા દિવસ’ તરીકે કોઈ ગુજરાતી સાહિત્યિક સંસ્થાએ જાહેર કર્યો છે. આ દિવસ એટલે વીર નર્મદનો જન્મદિવસ. યુ.કે.નિવાસીઓ કદાચ પહેલાંથી જ ૧લી મેને ‘આં.રા.ગુ.દિ.’ તરીકે ઊજવતા આવ્યા હોય અને ૨૪મી ઓગસ્ટને અહીં ખાતે પાછળથી ‘વિ.ગુ.ભા.દિ.’ તરીકે જાહેર કરવામાં આવ્યો હોય. જે હોય તે, પણ કહેવાનું તાત્પર્ય એ કે છે કે આ બંને દિવસોને ઔપચારિક રીતે નહિ પણ સાચા અર્થમાં ઊજવવામાં આવે તે સમયની તાતી માગ છે. આપણી ગુજરાત સરકારે પણ ‘વિશ્વ ગુજરાતી ભાષા દિવસ’ની ઊજવણીને પ્રોત્સાહન આપવું જોઈએ અને શાળાઓ કે મહાશાળાઓએ અવનવા કાર્યક્રમો આપીને ગુજરાતી ભાષાના પ્રચાર, પ્રસાર અને વિકાસ માટે પ્રયત્નશીલ રહેવું જોઈએ.

આજના દિવસે શરૂ કરાએલા મારા પોતાના બ્લોગ કરતાં વધારે મહ્તવની આ વાતને મારા આગળ આવનારા લખાણની પહેલાં મૂકીને હું માતૃભાષાને ગૌરવ આપવાનો પ્રયત્ન કરી રહ્યો છું. મારા “William’s Tales” દ્વિભાષી બ્લોગ અંગે મેં ક્યાંક લખ્યું છે કે ‘ગુજરાતી પ્રત્યે માતા જેટલો જ મારો પ્રેમ હોવા છતાં મારાં લખાણોને વિશ્વફલક સુધી પહોંચાડવા માટે મેં થોડોક અંગ્રેજીનો સહારો લીધો છે.’ અમેરિકા અને કેનેડામાં સ્થાયી થએલાં મારા જ કુટુંબનાં ઊછરતાં સંતાનો માટે મે મારા કેટલાય લેખોને (મારા બે વર્ષના અંગ્રેજીમાં જ બ્લોગીંગ પછી) બંને ભાષાઓમાં પરસ્પર અનુવાદિત કર્યા છે કે જેથી તેઓ પ્રથમ અંગ્રેજીમાં સમજી લીધા પછી તેમને ગુજરાતીમાં વાંચીને સમજવાનો પ્રયત્ન કરે. વળી છેલ્લાં ચારેક વર્ષ દરમિયાન મેં કેટલાય લેખોને સીધા ગુજરાતીમાં પણ આપ્યા છે. અંગ્રેજી માધ્યમમાં ભણતાં સ્થાનિક અને બિનનિવાસી એવાં બાળકો માટે શરૂ કરવામાં આવેલા મારા એક નવીન બ્લોગની વાત નીચેના અંગ્રેજી લખાણમાં આવશે એટલે અહીં હું તેનો ઉલ્લેખ કરતો નથી. ધન્યવાદ.

Dear Blogger & Netter friends,

Some time ago, I had marked, on the right side bar of my Home Page, the words “The Big Day – May 05th, 2013” just for your curiosity on your part. This day is nothing but the day of the year 2007 when I had started my Blog titled as “William’s Tales” exclusively in English as I had no knowledge then that Articles can be written in other than English language. During the course of initial two years, I had posted 100 Articles in English except some Gujarati Short Stories of mine in PDF attachments with their introductory prefaces in English.

Further, during  the course of next three years from May 2009 to May 2012, I had added some 220 posts on my blog converted to bilingual pattern then. They were both in Gujarati and English, some directly written in respective languages and some mutually translated. Now, looking towards the sixth year of my blogging activity, I admit with openness  of my heart that I haven’t done  any extra ordinary activity on my blog. Out of some 50 posts, most of them are written under the titles as ‘Best of 5 years ago this month’ and ‘My quoted Quotes in my Posts’. You cannot find any new creativity in such posts as they are as old honey in new labeled bottles.

There are some fresh posts also such as ‘My Gujarati Haikus’, ‘A post of my self-introduction -Maari Kalame HuN’*, ‘A Chapter on the life of Dr. Chandravadan Mistri of California (USA)’, ‘Two posts of criticism respectively one for the E-Book of Gujarati poetry by Mr. Ramesh Patel of USA and the other on myself under the Gujarati title as (HuN Ja Maaro Vivechak!)**’. A humorous Gujarati post under the title ‘Welcome, welcome’ written as a guest blogger for a renowned Gujarati  Blog ‘Haasya Darbar’ has been reblogged  on my Blog.

As per my previous assurance somewhere, I have fulfilled my words of publishing my E-Books. I have published E-Books in number of 13, out of which there are 10 in Gujarati and 3 in English. These books cover most of the posts published on my blog in various categories and kinds of literature. They are published through a publishing house of Pune named BookGanga (MyVishwa Technologies Pvt. Ltd.). My prime motive behind publishing e-books is to preserve my entire creation at one place in electronic form for my future use while going for publishing them in physical printed books.  Just for your kind knowledge, I catalogue below the  List of my E-Books with their Links to preview them.

While summing up, I have great pleasure to announce that I have started  an additional Blog on March 06, 2013 titled as ‘Valda – no – Vartavaibhav’ (વલદાનો વાર્તાવૈભવ) exclusively for my Gujarati Short Stories. It was a special day for me as it was the Ninth Birthday of my beloved grandson Aabisali, the most junior member in our united family. This Blog has been dedicated to him keeping into my mind my aim that he and such other pupils like him studying in English Medium Schools or residing in foreign countries  should read such Gujarati stories with interest  to remain in constant  acquaintance and close contact with Mother Tongue Gujarati.

(343) Needing voluntary, neutral and stranger critics for my P-Books

As my valued Readers know me very well that I am a WordPress Bilingual Blogger for the last about five years. During the first two years of my Blogging, the most of my posts were in English save some pdf Attachments of my stories in Gujarati, the Indian Regional Language being spoken by about ten billion Gujaratis worldwide. For the last three years and some months, I have been publishing my Articles both in Gujarati and English, some directly written in respective language and some mutually translated. Till now, I have published some 350 Articles on my Blog written by myself with an exception of a very few Articles both translated and written by anybody else as the preface or the review of my books.

For the last some months, I was engaged in classifying my posts in various categories and preparing E-Books. A renowned E-Book publisher known as ‘MyVishwa Technologies Pvt. Ltd.  (BookGanga), Pune has published all my E-Books in number of 13 as follows:

The word ‘Needing’ in the title of this post might seem surprising to my Readers as it sounds like an advertisement for having services of the critics, but it is not so. Hundreds of my Blogger friends and many men of literature known to me might be helpful to me with a single request of mine to them and some of them have already extended their co-operation to me in this regard, but here I wish that my remaining E-Books be reviewed or criticized by some unknown critics.

Andy Warhol has said, “Don’t think about making art or literature, just get it done. Let everyone else decide if it’s good or bad, whether they love it or hate it.” Accordingly, I wish my creation be strongly criticized. I wish that the critic of my creation might pull my ears if I am wrong anywhere in any way in my writing. ‘Yes-man-ship’ of a critic or simply a critic be only admirer is harmful to the author at long run. The critic is like the judicial authority for an author. My word ‘neutral’ also in my title is purposeful. The critic should neither behave as a friend nor a foe of the author. He has to be a true judge of the author’s creation. The critic should highlight both good and bad qualities of the writing frankly. He should be far from any bias of the author and content, and must write what is right while evaluating any book or article.

I am in need of Gujarati and English critics for all my published E-Books which are intended to be published in Print Form. If I get willingness of anybody for being my critic/s, I’ll accept their co-operation for some those E-Books which have been already published without any criticism. On receiving the preparedness of being the critic/s of my Books, I’ll forward them my E-Books in PDF format for their review.

Summing up, I have to say with pleasure that I myself am an author and a critic also. Sambhavi Mijaje (સમભાવી મિજાજે) is a book of my criticism on Articles and/or Books of my some Blogger friends. In humorous mood, I may say that any barber cannot cut his own hair, but he has to go to the other barber for the same. In this way, it is obvious that it would be against protocol of the literary world if I criticize my books myself. Thus, I am prepared to have criticism against criticism; that is, in other words to say, exchange of co-operation for criticism.

(204) વૈયક્તિક લાગણીઓનાં જતન અને સામાજિક સંવાદિતા-૧

સંવાદમય સમાજના પ્રસ્થાપન માટે જરૂરી બની જાય છે કે વ્યક્તિઓ જ વ્યક્તિગત રીતે અન્યોન્ય સાથે સંવાદિતા સાધે. છેવટે તો વ્યક્તિઓ થકી જ સમાજ બને છે અને જેવી વ્યક્તિઓ તેવો સમાજ એવી એક સામાન્ય વ્યાખ્યા સંપન્ન થઈ ગણાય. હવે સાથેસાથે એ વાસ્તવિકતાનો આપણે સ્વીકાર કરવો રહે કે બધા જ સમયે એ શક્ય નથી કે સમાજની પ્રત્યેક વ્યક્તિ એવા કોઈ આદર્શને સિદ્ધ કરી શકે અથવા એવી સિદ્ધિની નજીક પણ પહોંચી શકે. હા, એટલું જરૂર બની શકે કે ભલે અલ્પમતીમાં પણ એવી વ્યક્તિઓ સમાજમાં એક એવો માહોલ ઊભો કરી શકે કે જે તરફ લોકોની જાગૃતિ કેળવાય અને આમ સમાજ માટે ઉર્ધ્વગામી થવાની આને પણ એક સારી નિશાની ગણાવી શકાય.

માનવ-વર્તણુંકોને જાણવી અને સમજવી એ મારા માટે હંમેશાં રસનો વિષય રહ્યો છે. આજના લેખ સાથે સંબંધિત મારા જીવનના અસંખ્ય પ્રસંગો પૈકીના માત્ર બે જ હું અહીં આપવા માગું છું, જેમના પ્રકાશમાં હું મારા લેખના લક્ષને સિદ્ધ કરવાનો પ્રયત્ન કરીશ. પહેલા પ્રસંગમાં મુખ્ય પાત્રે હું છું અને અન્યો ગૌણ પાત્રે, તો બીજામાં હું ગૌણ પાત્રે છું અને અન્ય ત્રાહિત વ્યક્તિ કે વ્યક્તિઓ મુખ્ય પાત્રે છે. આ બંને પ્રસંગો વૈયક્તિક લાગણીઓના જતનને અનુલક્ષીને છે જે પહેલી નજરે કદાચ વજુદ વગરના જ લાગશે, પણ તેમની પાછળ છુપાએલા ગહન ભાવને જાણવાથી તેમનું મહત્વ સમજાશે.

પ્રથમ પ્રસંગમાં કેન્દ્રસ્થાને હું પોતે હોઈ હું લાખ સાવધાની વર્તું, છતાંય કોઈકને તો મારી આત્મશ્લાઘા થતી હોવાનું લાગ્યા વગર રહેશે નહિ. આમ સંભવિત આવા જોખમને માથે લઈને પણ હું જે કહેવા માગું છું તે કહીને જ રહીશ. પ્રસંગની પૂર્વભૂમિકા સમજાવવા જતાં અતિવિસ્તાર થઈ જવાનો ડર હોઈ હું સીધો જ પ્રસંગનાં પાત્રોના સંવાદો જ રજૂ કરીશ. અને વચ્ચે વચ્ચે જરૂર પડશે તો જરૂરી કોઈક સ્પષ્ટતાઓ કરતો રહીશ.
