A very brief background of this story is that I was very enthusiastic of getting my stories published in some Gujarati Magazines at my age of 20. In those days, a Gujarati monthly Magazine ”Savita” was being published from Bombay publishing exclusive Gujarati short stories. Every year, this magazine arranged a ‘Story Competition’ for having good stories for their Magazine. For two or three years, I participated in this competition; and lastly this “Jal-samaadhi” was selected not as any prize-winner, but as one of the best stories next to first three in the year 1965. In this way, my dream came true and I got inspiration to proceed on in this field of literature with its print publication.
Critics may find this story not meeting with the standard and form of the present Gujarati short story; but if they evaluate it in context to that particular year, I think, they will find it okay. I am tempted to publish it here on my blog due to the only reason that this story was a milestone for me in those days and presently I consider it as the foundation stone of my literary activities going on.
Meanwhile, I thank my Gujarati Readers spread over world-wide for their encouraging visits to my blog and comments on my Articles.
I take your leave with warm Invitation to my story below. Please, go on.
