વણલખ્યું

(અછાંદસ)

સઘળે ફરી વળ્યો શબ્દોને ખોળવા
જડી ગયા ભોંયતળિયે, વેરાયેલા.

કોઈ પ્રેમાળ, કોઈ દ્વેષીલા;
કોઈ વળી સૌમ્ય, તો કોઈ વળી ભાવતા.

કેટલાક આનંદી, કેટલાક દુખિયારા;
કોઈક તો સાચુકલા, સીધા ને સાદા.

કોક તો હતાશ વળી, કોક તો આશભર્યા;
કોક સાવ જૂઠડા જ લીસા ઢોળાવ સમ.

કોઈક વળી ગંભીર, તો કોઈ સાવ રમૂજી;
કોઈ ખૂબ વાલીડા, ને કોઈક તો કશામાં નંઈ.

કોઈ કોઈ મળતાવડા, કોઈ કોઈ મતભેદિયા;
કોઈ વળી લહેરી, તો કોઈક સાવ રોતલ.

કેટલાક ટચુકડા, તો કેટલાક લંબુજી;
ને કોક વળી મરતલ, તો કોક વળી ભડવીર.

કોક તો લેખામાં નંઈ, કોઈક વળી ભાવતા;
કોઈ સાવ મસ્તરામ, તો કોક વળી ભારી વેંઢારવા.

આપણાં લોક જ્યમ, તેઓ શ્વસતા-સંવેદતા;
ને હડધૂત જો કરીએ તો દુભાય ઘણેરા બાપડા.

મુજ કાવ્ય જ્યાં બે તૃતીયાંશ માત્ર સર્જાયું,
ને નીચો વળ્યો ઢૂંઢવા કોઈક અદકેરા શબ્દ.

પીડાભરી ચીસ થકી સહસા એ શબ્દોએ
બુમરાણ એવી તો મચાવી

કે ‘બસ કરો સતામણી ને
છોડી દો તવ કવિતા અધૂરી.

મુક્ત તો છીએ અમે, ભલે વેરાયેલા હોઈએ.
ભોંયતળિયે અમને છોડી દો, રહેવા દો અમને,

બસ એમ જ રહેવા દો.’

Unwritten 

Went looking for words to explore,
found them scattered on the floor.

Some with love, some with hate,
some quite bland, some with taste.

some with joy, some with pain,
some with truth, simple and plain.

some with despair, some with hope,
some with lies on a slippery slope.

some quite serious, some had fun,
some had respect, some had none.

some consenting, some dissenting,
some rejoicing, some lamenting.

some pretty short, some pretty long,
some quite weak, some quite strong.

some were ignored, some adored,
some were amused, some bored.

like people – they breath, they feel,
if abused, they are hurt a great deal.

As the poem was done only two thirds,
I reached down to get more words.

suddenly words screamed in agony,
stop the torture, spare the poetry.

free we are, scattered we might be,
Leave us on the floor, leave us be.

Just leave us be.
